I appear to have been left in charge of Mothers For Women’s Lib which as you can see I have moved to WordPress for ease of use. I can’t be the only feminist mama left. If you are a feminist and you have kids - biological, adoptive, step or foster - I’d love to hear from you. You can either become a permanent contributor or an occasional submitter, whichever you would prefer to be.

If you don’t fit the criteria, I’d really appreciate it if you’d spread the word anyway. There is a serious lack of resources for feminist parents and I believe a blog which addresses the unique issues which affect women who are both feminists and parents would be very useful in filling this gap.

I just spent a few minutes at the website of Fathers 4 Justice. I think I clicked a link on the BBC from an article on one of their latest stunts. Have I ever mentioned how much I really, really, really hate Fathers 4 Justice? I don’t think I can adequately put my venom towards that group into words. Suffice to say, browsing their site did not do anything to ease my hatred for them. I had to leave after approximately four minutes because I was so full of rage and nausea that I couldn’t read any more. One day I will expand on my reasons for this hatred but for now, I’m just going to say I hate them and everything they stand for, and I sincerely hope they never cross my path.

My son and I have just spent a lovely week at my parents’ house, where my sister also lives and my uncle and two young cousins are staying for the week, so I have had a wonderful time surrounded by family. I’ve been totally internet-free and relaxed, and it has been most excellent.

Aside, that is, from a sudden spate of angry emails towards the end which interrupted my good mood a little. Stupid of me to go online really, I should have left it until I got home, but I suspect then I would have been accused of avoiding/ignoring the issues at hand.

Thing is, I’ve been away for a week. I have no idea what’s been going on and as I subscribe to 237 blogs through Google Reader, I don’t have time to search through and figure out what extra bricks have been added to the house of drama that seems to be being built.

So if anyone cares to update me on the last seven days, please do so here. If you’ve read something important, or written something you think I should read, let me know here. And anyone who can give me a brief synopsis of the last week would be very kind to do so.

Now I have to go and do the housework I came home to do. Bah. I should have stayed with my folks!

I have been reading the comments on the recent post at the F-Word, An Open Letter To Cis Feminists with interest. Two in particular really jumped out at me.

“By saying you want woman born woman spaces you are being transphobic.” - Soirore

“I know that every time you make the distinction that trans women do not belong in “women born women” spaces that you’re drawing a line that says “these are valid women and those are not valid women” and you’re justifying the people who attack us, kill us, fire us, refuse us homes, compare sex with us to rape.” - Lisa Harney

Now I’m a radical feminist who considers myself a trans ally (no, the two are not mutually exclusive believe it or not!) and I’m really chewing over my opinion on this. I truly don’t understand how advocating for woman-born-woman spaces is transphobic. I would advocate for general woman only spaces and then in addition, woman-born-woman only space and trans only spaces. I advocate for woman-born-woman only spaces as well as woman-only spaces, not to replace them.

Maybe there’s a huge part of the puzzle I’m missing here?
